Yes, Misstrix is Now Bored Aquarian
But don’t worry, I’m still going to write about sex and whatnot.
Welp, friends, I finally did it. I made the title change I’ve been alluding to for months. The Yes, Misstrix newsletter that you know and love has a new name. I’m going to share a bit more about why I decided to rename my platform in the post below, but here’s the too-long-didn’t-read version:
Bored Aquarian will bring you the same great sex, love and relationships-themed content while also expanding to include other topics I find intriguing. Because as much as I love sex and writing about sex and sharing weird little stories about my weird little marriage, I don’t want to be limited in what I can discuss with all of you. That would be boring.
And as a self-described Bored Aquarian, I do my best to never write (or generally fuck with) anything that isn’t super interesting…to me. My genuine hope is that you’ll also find these discussions incredibly engaging, and you’ll continue to read, like, comment and share.
The main reason I decided to change names is actually two-fold. I wanted to do a better job of branding my content, and Bored Aquarian is better aligned with who I am and what I want to do than Yes, Misstrix, which I suspect was giving a lot of horny people the wrong impression. Bored Aquarian is also the name of a band in my magical realism novel. This felt like a nice nod to my other works—past, present and future.
So, clarity of branding is part one. Part two is that I tended to have a lot of fluctuations in subscribers, something I’d like to minimize as I take steps to release my current writing jobs for clients and focus solely on writing and sharing my own unique content. I believe that the big ups and downs in my numbers are because my old name gave the impression that I write erotica or am a dominatrix or share detailed tips on how best to go down on your partner. That’s just false advertising. Instead, I want everyone to understand that I’m mostly known to expound on topics like partnership, marriage, friendship, personal growth, parenting and a million other things that pique my interest.
Rather than (inadvertently) presenting myself as something I’m not, I decided to own who and what I am. In my heart of hearts, I am a Bored Aquarian forever in search of adventures, misadventures, joy and fun. I’m curious about the world, the way people think and behave, the ways in which I go about doing these things, too. And why. I’m always after a “why” or a “how come” or a “what’s next”?
Now, if you’ve been with this newsletter for a while, you know what you’re getting. It will be more of the same and more of the topics I’ve touched on but never went super deep into. There will be more tarot, more intuition, more creativity, more woo, but also more sense and research and investigation into life’s oddball mysteries and fascinating phenomena.
I invite you to join me for all of it, even if not everything is your cup of tea. Keep an open mind, but if you realize this newsletter isn’t what you’d hoped, then thank you for being here and I wish you all the best on your search for a newsletter that better meets your needs.
At the end of the day, I created Bored Aquarian as a means of expressing who I am more authentically. I want to be able to show up as my full self, and this is the platform from which I plan to share the wholeness of my writing, my future plans and the inner workings of my eccentric mind. And I’ll do it all with one persistent mantra in mind: Regardless of what I’m going on about inside this newsletter, my greatest desire is that you and I will never be bored again.
With pleasure,
Bored Aquarian
P.S. A few housekeeping items…
1. The free newsletter will still come out once per week (this announcement post doesn’t count), and the post for paid subscribers will also come out once per week. The days will likely change, so (going forward) I’ll mark the paid posts that offer a preview to all subscribers with a * in the subheading.
2. The audio companion will come out once per week as well, but tarot videos for all subscribers will go out to everyone whenever I feel inspired to create them. I really like doing these videos, so they might become a more regular thing.
3. Many moons ago, I offered a year free to paid subscribers, and while I made changes in the system to honor this, they did not work. I figured out the problem and corrected it, so if you were or became a subscriber when I was offering a free year, that is now updated in the system.
4. Likes, subscribes, shares, comments and reposts are a huge part of getting my newsletter into the eyes and inboxes of more amazing humans like you. If you feel called to engage with my content, I am forever grateful. I appreciate your efforts to help me succeed!
Thank you for being here. You make this newsletter amazing :)
